San Diego with my Migos

Hello Lovlies,

This is an overdue post but I took a quick weekend trip ( Thursday night - Sunday Morning) at the beginning of October to visit one of my friends who moved there recently for work. I always love traveling to California, if I could and it was not so expensive I would move to California. Sadly, living is double/even triple the amount here in Houston.

I went the second week of October which made it great weather between summer and their winter (even though the weather is always nice). The temperature sat at a nice breezy 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. I was able to wear summer clothes with a light jacket/cardigan at night when the sunset.

The outfits I wore:

1. Friday - hiking/dinner/drinks

  • Hike

    • Black cropped tank with 1inch straps and a keyhole knot on the front - Forever 21

    • Blue high waisted crop leggings - Amazon ColorfulKoala

  • Dinner/Drinks

    • Orange shorts - Forever 21

    • White halter one-piece top - Forever 21

    • Green Cardigan - Ross ( I got large so that it could be big and slouchy on me )

2. Saturday - San Diego Zoo + Balboa Park + Beach

  • Two-piece wrap skirt and tank top

    • This piece has a Spanish touch to it because of the pattern design the pom-pom lining on the skirt

Places we went:

Since we were only there for 2 full days - our time was very limited when it came to the places that we could visit. On Friday morning after I finish some work - we went to the Ho Chi Minh hike around 11 am. The hike itself takes about 2 hours but we found a route that cut towards the ocean/beach. That route was the most scenic - it was a harder hike because most of the areas were sandy and slippery ( we did not make it to the beach because we could not get over this one part, though we saw several surfer people go past it easily). Overall the hike was fairly is able and the temperature was nice. The breeze was cool but the sun beaming down, provided enough heat to make us sweat a little. I wore leggings and a tank top with a light jacket. I ended up not having to wear my jacket and what I had on was great for the temperature.

After the hike, we had some time to kill before we met up with our friend so we went shopping around the mall in La Jolla. I found some great deals such as a Steve Madden platform boot that was retail $130 and I got it for $30. I also just bought some small items like a plain tan boot for hiking ( this was for my Canada Trip), a neck pillow, and a fuzzy blanket for the plane ride back home. I saw many great items with great deals, but I only had my backpack and knew I could not bring anything home.

Once we met up without a friend we grabbed some happy hour bites and drinks at Herringbone - it was such a unique atmosphere. Off the happy hour menu, we bought oysters, brussels sprouts, Frito Misto. Those items were all very delicious. After we ate we went back and got ready for the night. At night we went out for Korean BBQ and then beer flights at Ballast Point Brewing Company.

On Saturday we spent most of our day at the San Diego Zoo. The zoo is really big so I would suggest wearing comfortable shoes. We spent most of the day there because there were so many animals to see. Afterward, we stopped by Balboa Park, mainly the art center which had an old Spanish touch to it. We grabbed tacos at Oscar Mexican Seafood, a wooden shack near the beach. I have eaten a lot of tacos in my life but these are the best tacos I have ever had. I order the fish stew ( very flavorful and not over-ally fishy), pacific taco (fried fish), and a beef taco. We ended our day watching the sunset at the beach which was the most beautiful and relaxing thing to do. We also had the chance to see the sea lions that were laid out on the rocks. I would recommend ending your day at the sea lion beach and watch the sunset. Lastly we stop by “Mngo” which was an all mango dessert cafe. I ordered the poplar mango and sticky rice platter - best mango desert ever. The sticky rice is made perfectly and the mangos are free and sweet. I heard they sell out fast and if they do not have ripped mangos they wont sell that platter. I would suggest going earlier in the day or calling beforehand.
