Slit Stich

Ba Da Boom… my very first upcycle recycle piece. I went to Ross ( Check out my Ross Haul Post) recently, and went digging into the sales rack. I got very lucky and found many pieces that were only a couple of dollars.

I found this maroon and white dress that was reduced to $1.99 because of a very big tear that split down from the top and down 4 inches. I knew that this piece could not go to waste. I took it back home and decided the most simplest way was to turn it into a two piece set. I undid the seams right at the top where the tear begin. I cut right at the bottom of the tear and turn the bottom part into a skirt.

I fold the top seams and left enough room to insert an elastic string for the waistline. For the top, I sewed up the bottom seam to make it even and to prevent fraying. The two piece was done!
