Clench that waist
Do you have jeans that fit in the thighs but not the waist? Well, I have a solution for you….
Hello, lovelies,
On today’s episode ( blog ) of DIY, I am here with a post on how to tighten the waist on most of your pants/shorts/skirts. I always run into the issue of my pants fitting on my thighs/legs but being too big for my waist. ** This tutorial is related to pants that have two layers on the waist**
First thing first… Materials:
Pants
Scissors
Safety Pin
Knit Non-Roll Elastic ( I usually buy mine from Michael’s )
Needle
Thread
What you will do first is pinch the fabric to make sure that there are two layers. Then you will cut two slits on each end of the back of your pants only on the layers facing inwards to the jeans. The distance between the two slits is dependent on how loose the waist is on you. Next, you will cut a strip of elastic that is smaller than the length of the two slits ( You will want the elastic to be smaller for the waistline to clench). Next, you will pin a safety pin at the end of the strip and slowly thread it through one end of the slit to the other end. The safety pin is there to make it easier for you to move the strips through the waist. I would sew on one side of the elastic before sliding it through to the other side. This allows it to stay in place and you won't lose it into the “waist tunnel”.
Once you can grab the other elastic side with the safety pin pull it through and sew it down. Remove the pin and VOILA you have pants that fit your curves!
